Training Soft Restraints(!)

Soft Restraints consists of the Safe Holding System (SHS), the Soft Restraint Belt (SRB)/Emergency Restrain Belt (ERB) and the Soft Restraints Cuffs (SRC)/Emergency Restrain Cuffs (ERC).

Soft Restraints provide personnel with full control when needed, for example, to hold a person safely, transport them, prevent self-harming behaviour.

Soft Restraints provides a valuable springboard for transition from seclusion, long-term seclusion or restrictive mechanical means. At the same time, the safety of everyone is guaranteed. In addition, Soft Restraints prevent unnecessary pain being inflicted on a person: among other things, because they do not contain any metal components.

Soft Restraints may only be used if one has successfully completed the Soft Restraints Training. You will receive a personal statement that you are competent and capable of using Soft Restraints.

Working with Soft Restraints requires a high degree of skill. Refresher courses are regularly organised to maintain expertise and train for new developments in this field.

In England, Soft Restraints have been used by various health organisations and the police for a number of years.

Below you can read some feedbacks from users of Soft Restraints in England:

"We integrated a patient from long term seclusion using te Safe Holding System, which meant we could now ge her out twice a day with minimum incidents arising which is a huge change to her care (she was only getting out 15 minutes a week before with incidents on most occasions!"

"The Soft Restraints allow us to administer personal care safely."

"Using Soft Restraints has reduced staff injuries drastically."
